Well here we are already feet firmly planted in 2017 and I have to say I’m so brimming over with creativity juices and mad hatter projects I could potentially burn out by the start of February. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and I wish each and every one of you a New Year full of positivity, love and happiness. Make this year the year that sets you sail for new horizons and brings you experiences that will change you forever.
Santa was very good to me and a spanking, shiny new Lensababy landed in my lap Christmas morning. I’ve been tempted by this little beauty for a while and to be honest I needed a fresh slap of inspiration in the face to get the cogs going again. And by gosh are they whirring. I’m in love.
So what’s a Lensababy? Basically it’s a brand of different lens optics that allow you to penetrate a world of endless creativity and beauty. (My baby is the Sweet50 which has a sweet spot of focus surrounded by blur and a minimum aperture of F2.5). I’m gushing but then again I did mention that I was in love.
Lensababy put it so well…
….”Photographers spend years shooting for perfect. Flawless, precise, pristine—we’ve all chased the perfect shot. At Lensbaby, we see things differently. We think perfect is boring. We seek surprise—to have our eyes opened, to dance and play and lose ourselves in moments. To break free of routine, be uncomfortable, tinker, and open yourself up to unexpected results. When you do that, you’ll change how you see everything.”
Change a few words and they are describing me. I’ve found my photography soul mate. I am the least normal person I know but I embrace that. I chase the odd, the exception and the perfectly beautiful flaws in life. I’m taking baby steps again as its a manual lens and takes a bit of practice to find that sweet spot when focussing but I’m learning. And as long as I am learning, Im moving forward and reaching out to my dreams and goals. The future looks bright.
