I’m ashamed to say it has taken me nearly 3 years to post a few images from our trip to Penang, Kuala Lumpar and Langkawi in Malaysia but I will always hold fond memories of our adventure. Beautifully vibrant places with a mish mash of cultures round each corner. I was 7 months pregnant with the second and as big as a whale but that didn’t deter me from tasting everything in sight. The people are incredibly welcoming and it is a photographer’s playground. We were invited to a local wedding when we were there and I remember being so humbled at how they treated us with open arms. Mother in law insisted I follow her into the newlyweds house and I hauled my massive belly and camera up a little wooden ladder where she proudly showed me the wedding chamber. Slightly strange feeling invading that private space but she made clear it was absolutely necessary that I take a few shots.
If ever in Georgetown make sure you hire bicycles and track down the street art. A-Maz-ing.
Oh and if you go for lunch trying desperately to blend in like locals and they bring you a big bowl of steaming water with herbs, don’t wash your fingers in it because you will definitely give the game away. Its broth.
